The fortieth anniversary of the International Circus Festival has been marked with the release of a miniature sheet, created at the request of Princess Stephanie of Monaco, the Festival's patron.

The International Circus Festival was established in 1974 and is the world's largest circus event, attracting performers and audiences from around the world. The miniature sheet comprises four stamps featuring advertising posters for the tenth, twentieth, thirtieth and fortieth Circus Festival, featuring an elephant, clowns and red circus curtains.

This year's Festival, which will take place in Monte Carlo from 14 to 24 January 2016, has a 'best of' theme and will feature star performers from previous celebrations, culminating in a golden gala of the 40th festival.
