New Zealand Post marks the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of World War Two with a set of six stamps featuring wartime posters which encouraged New Zealanders to play their part in the war effort.

Of course, the war didn't just affect the 200,000 men and 10,000 women who served their country in World War Two; thousands of other ordinary people were also called on to make sacrifices, something which is reflected in these stamps.

The six stamps reflect six of the groups that contributed to the war effort overseas and at home:

  • The Air Training Corps
  • The Women’s Land Service
  • The Air Force
  • The Nav
  • The Army
  • The Maori Battalion.

The posters shown on these stamps were used variously to raise funds, recruit New Zealanders and give advice and information about the war.
