A new stamp from British Antarctic Territory features the Royal Navy's newest ship, HMS Protector. ...
HMS Protector was deployed in September 2012 by the British Navy, as an ice patrol ship in the waters of the Antarctic. She is on loan to the Navy following the flooding of HMS Endurance in 2008.
The ship will spend the next few months surveying Antarctic waters and providing support to scientists working in the area, as well as carrying out hydrographic survey work. The commemorative £3.50 stamp shows the ship at work in icy waters, with the surrounding sheet showing a reflection of the ship in the water and a map of the Antarctic territory.
