A new exhibition at the British Library will take a look at stamps and other postal items connected with the Olympic Games. Olympex 2012, which will be at the British Library from 27 July to 9 September 2012, as part of the cultural Olympiad, has been created by the International Olympic Committee and the British Library.
The exhibition tells the story of the Olympic Games through objects shown alongside multi-media and audio-visual presentations. The items included are drawn largely from the collections of private individuals, showing how anyone can preserve Olympic memories through personal collections.
The free exhibition has its own website and is located next to St Pancras Station and the Javelin Service to the Olympic Park. Jaques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee, said: 'The IOC is delighted to have the British Library as our partner in this exhibition. The Library’s international reputation for bringing stories to life makes it the natural home for this fascinating and unique view of Olympic history.'
