Canada Post has issued an 'original six' set of stamps to honour Canadian ice hockey heroes of years gone by.
The stamps, designed by Avi Dunkelman and Joe Gault, feature players from Canada's famous National Hockey League:
The stamps are the second in a five-year Canada Post programme to mark the forthcoming centenary of the National Hockey League in 2017.
Lisa Raitt, Canada's minister of transport, who is responsible for Canada Post, said of the stamps: 'The six hockey legends celebrated by Canada Post defined, and in some cases redefined, the defensive position at a golden time in the sport’s history. Hockey transcends sport in Canada. It’s part of our very fabric.'
