The second instalment in Canada Post's children's literature series features the work of Marie-Louise Gay, author of 'Stella'.

Mary Louise Gay is one of Canada’s best-loved creators of children books and has published more than sixty books and achieved international acclaim for her work. She has won many awards for her titles, including the Governor General’s Award and the Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award and been nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award and the Hans Christian Andersen Award.

The new stamps feature the popular red haired character Stella, her brother Sam and their pet dog, Fred, explore the world around them bringing readers along on their many adventures. The Canada Post website describes the issue: 'The stamps focus on highlighting elements of Stella’s character. Stella’s personality – her enthusiasm, sense of adventure, and delight – shines on the stamp that features her hanging upside down from a tree. On the other stamp, we see her relationship with her brother Sam through their shared pleasure of reading together.'

The Stella stamps are available in a booklet of ten stamps, with a souvenir sheet and postcards also available. Five of the stamps in the booklet feature Stella reading with her brother Sam, and the other five stamps depict Stella hanging upside down from a tree.
