First London 2012 Olympics stamp from Australia Post

The first of three Olympic 2012 themed stamps has been issued by Australia Post. The 60c stamp, designed by Jonathan Chong, features the Australian flag and Olympic rings above a montage of a red London bus and three London landmarks - Big Ben, St Paul's Cathedral and the London Eye.

The issue will be followed by stamp sheetlets produced to mark any Gold Medals received by the Australian Olympic team, which Australia Post say will be available at their post offices within 48 hours of a win. In August, the postal authority will issue a further three stamps, featuring the popular Olympic sports of rowing, swimming and pole vault.
