Green Mann Isle of Man stamps celebrate local produce

The Isle of Man Post Office pays tribute to the island's farmers, growers and food producers with six new stamps featuring the work of Manx artist Nicola Dixon. The issue takes its inspiration from the work of the island's farmers, growers and fishermen with six stamps featuring Isle of Man food and drink.

Manx artist Nicola Dixon was commissioned to create the new stamps, which form a colourful tribute the diversity of the Isle of Man and its food producers, with Celtic interlace and the Isle of Man triskel creating a unique Manx look. Each stamp features a different product: farm to yarn, fish to dish, welly to belly, cow to cup, tree to table and field to work; with each item shown against an Isle of Man countryside background.

Former Blue Peter head gardener Chris Collins has provided the accompanying text, looking at the benefits of local produce, and the use of stamps to educate the people of the Isle of Man about the many different foodstuffs produced on their home island.

The Island has a great track record in the field of local food production; in 2016, 28 UK Great Taste Awards were won by thirteen different Manx businesses ranging from fresh meat, ale and cheese, to bread, flour and spices.
