Guernsey Post marks the 175th anniversary of the Penny Black, the world's first postage stamp, with a special issue comprising a miniature sheet, first day cover and presentation pack.
The stamp is a reproduction of an original Penny Black, with the addition of the word 'Guernsey' and the Queen's EIIR symbol. The miniature sheet and first day cover each feature a black and white image of Rowland Hill, the man credited with inventing the Penny Black, together with a copy of Hill's signature (on the miniature sheet) and (on the first day cover and presentation pack) the date 1 May 1840, the offiical issue date for the Penny Black.
