The Isle of Man Post Office has issued six stamps in association with The Times newspaper to celebrate the paper's 225th anniversary. The issue also incorporates the Isle of Man's contribution to the Europa theme of 'postal vehicles', and also the fortieth anniversary of the Isle of Man postal authority becoming independent of the Royal Mail.

Established in 1788, The Times has covered major news headlines in three different centuries, through peace and wartime. The headlines chosen by Isle of Man Post Office for its six stamps all relate to events during the last half century:

  • The assassination of President Kennedy (1963)
  • The moon landings (1969)
  • The final flight of Concorde (2003)
  • England's victory in the World Cup (1966)
  • The Queen's visit to China (1986)
  • Isle of Man postal authority gains its independence (1973)

Each of the stamps includes a micro text panel which has information on the headline shown.

To order the stamps, visit the Isle of Man Post Office website.
