Tristan da Cunha's latest stamps, produced in association with the World Wildlife Fund for Nature, feature images of the Tristan Albatross. The four stamps show images of the Albatross (Diomedea dabbenena) as a chick, flying over the island, sitting on a nest, and the male and female of the species together.

The Tristan Albatross is a new species, having only been fully categorised in 1998. It is often mistaken for the Wandering Albatross and as yet, its flight patterns and distribution at sea are not fully understood. The species is found across all of the islands of the Tristan da Cunha group, with most found on Gough Island. The Tristan Albatross chick - which is shown on the 45p value is particularly vulnerable on land, often falling prey to attacks from mice.
