Post Europ has announced the results of its 2012 Europa stamp competition, in which stamps issued for the Europa 2012 theme 'Visit...' were judged. The Gold Award went to Hungary, for its HU stamp, showing the country's international 'HU' code, filled with grapes and peppers, and designed by Agnes Rozmann. Silver went to Turkey, with Croatia in third place.

The winner of the Jury Prize competition, which is judged by a panel of philately experts, was Russia. David E Failor, Chief of the United Nations Postal Administration, said: 'We were amazed at the many beautiful and well-thought entries received this year. Determining the most beautiful Europa stamp of 2012 was a difficult task because of the wide variety of attractive and well designed entries. Ultimately the jury selected the entry from the Russian Federation because of its inviting theme, high quality production and superior iconic image. The stamp did a wonderful job of celebrating the subject of tourism.'
