Royal Mail and Post Office Ltd have taken to the UK’s high streets in a special ‘pop-up shop’ to sell Post & Go stamps and personalised Smilers sheets in the run-up to Christmas, giving collectors the chance to obtain some unique stamps in the process.

The pop-up shop – actually a mobile trailer – first appeared in Newcastle, tempting shoppers to purchase Machin and Christmas Robin Post & Go stamps from the two ‘Hytech’ machines known as A3 and A4, while 1st and 2nd Class stamp booklets and personalised Smilers sheets were also available.

The opening of the shop in Newcastle gave GB collectors the chance to obtain the 2nd class Machin Faststamps with year code ‘MA13’ (the code can be seen just above the Queen’s nose) for the first time.

Those wishing to obtain personalised Smilers sheets could use the seasonal props made available inside the pop-up shops to make their photo more festive, but problems with the sizing of the stamps meant users could only use the 2012 sheets in Newcastle.
