The Pitcairn Islands has issued four stamps and a first day cover to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the death of US president John F Kennedy on 22 November.

The four stamps feature front pages from the Daily News during Kennedy's tenure as the 35th president of the United States and show memorable moments of his presidency:

  • $1 value - 'Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country (20 January 1961)
  • $1.80 value - 'We go to the moon' (25 May 1961)
  • $2.10 value - Kennedy orders Cuba blockade (18 April 1962)
  • $3 value - 'Ich bin ein Berliner' (26 June 1963)

Kennedy's presidency spanned some of the greatest and most notorious moments of twentieth century history including the Civil Rights movement, the building of the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Bay of Pigs invasion and the start of the Vietnam War.

President John F Kennedy was assassinated on 22 November 1963 in Dallas, Texas by gunman Harvey Lee Oswald who himself was killed by Jack Ruby two days later.
