The Daily Mirror has reported that Royal Mail are preparing a special set of stamps to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the ITV soap opera

In a news story headlined 'Coronation Street stars to get their own set of 60th anniversary postage stamps', the Daily Mirror has reported that the popular ITV soap opera will be honoured with a set of stamps to mark the drama's 60th anniversary.

The long-running drama was first broadcast on 9 December 1960, and so any stamp issue would most likely be issued in December 2020. The programme is now broadcast up to six times per week and has almost reached 10,000 episodes.

According to the report, characters such as Jack and Vera Duckworth and Hilda Ogden are likely to be remembered on the stamps. However, the story does not include any direct quotes only 'sources', placing the report in the realms of a rumour rather than fact. Royal Mail have not confirmed any plans for the stamps.
