An Post has issued a new stamp to mark St Patrick's Day 2014 on 17 March.

Issued on 20 February 2014, the stamp features a stained glass image of Saint Patrick, Ireland's national saint who was born in 385AD. Graphic designer Oonagh Young has chosen a traditional image of the saint which is based on a stained glass window featuring Saint Patrick at Saint Canice's Church in Kilkenny. The site of the church is an important one in church history, as worshippers have gathered since the sixth century, making it one of the oldest Christian sites in Ireland.

St Patrick's Day is marked in many countries around the world, mainly in those areas with large Irish populations such as the USA and Canada. It is a national day in Newfoundland, Labrador and Monteserrat, where the day is marked by celebration parades.
