Slovakia features ancient Roman artefact on Europa stamp issue

Slovakia Post has highlighted the oldest known 'visit' motif in Slovakia's history for its contribution to this year's Europa theme 'visit'. The stamp features part of the decoration of a 2nd-century Roman plate, one of the 'lanx diskos' discovered in the 1930s during excavations at the brickworks of Strave. The plate decorations depict several events in the history of early Rome.
