Catch up with all the latest stamp and coin news, including new stamps and coins to mark the Queen's landmark anniversary, plus a stamp for Britain's Schindler, and a commemorative stamp sheet for the Gurkha bicentenary.

This has been an exciting few weeks for collectors, with lots of new stamps and coins, many issued to mark landmark anniversaries.

RECORD-BREAKING MONARCH

The Queen's anniversary as Britain's longest reigning monarch has been marked by celebrations around Britain and in the Commonwealth Countries. Collectors awaiting Royal Mail's commemoration of the anniversary could finally find out about the special miniature sheet, whose release had been 'shrouded in secrecy'. Find out more in our special video report which includes details and images of the five new stamps - and enjoy our expert look at how Machin definitives have changed over the years, in the October issue of Stamp & Coin Mart, available from our website.

We also asked leading experts to select their favourite QEII stamp from the Queen's long reign - find out what they picked in the September issue of Stamp & Coin Mart.

Several other countries have issued commemorative stamps and coins, including Jersey, with a four-stamp collection of royal portraits; a landmark issue from Gibraltar, featuring the use of 22ct gold as well as the first ever use of the wording 'Queen of Gibraltar' on a stamp; and a commemorative Cupro Nickel Crown from Pobjoy Mint on behalf of the Isle of Man.

NEWS YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED

Of course, it's not all been about the Queen's impressive landmark reign. In a special bumper news section of October's Stamp & Coin Mart, we bring you details of a forthcoming stamp to honour wartime hero Sir Nicholas Winton (known as 'Britain's Schindler'), a limited edition miniature sheet (pictured) to mark the 200th anniversary of the Gurkha regiment, and a fascinating report which has concluded that collectables such as stamps and coins are holding or increasing their value in a world of falling stocks and shares.

We also bring you news of how the United Nations Postal Administration has used stamps to tackle the difficult and emotive topic of violence against children, and we look ahead to stamps issued for Christmas 2015, starting with a fun Charlie Brown and Snoopy set from the US Postal Service.

And finally, we raise a glass to the theme of wine on stamps with our look at five of the finest wine stamps issued over the years.
