A Liverpool stamp club based at Runnymede School has been successfully reinstated, writes David Rossall.

The stamp club at Runnymede School in Liverpool, which had ceased to function, was reinstated last year and now has 28 members – 11 boys and 17 girls from 7 to 11 years old.  Thanks are due to a visit from Erene Grieve, with her Stamps in Schools project, and also to Steve Pye who, although not a collector himself, was so impressed by the interest shown by the children that he agreed to get the club going again.

Steve said that the children’s enthusiasm made starting the club easy, especially with the material support from Stamp Active, and they now meet for two lunchtimes each week. Each child now has their own album, and also their own choice of how and what they collect.

A recent visit by the club to the Liverpool Stamp Fair was met with a generous response from the dealers, and the children had a great time. Steve is now running a local in-club competition to give them further incentives – with prizes for all their efforts.

Stamp Active Network are proud to be associated with the developments at Runnymede, and with the backing of their supporters, will continue to help Steve in any way they can. This applies to all the clubs that they are in contact with, and they are always pleased to receive progress reports and ideas on how we can be of more assistance.
