THE LIFE OF BOND CREATOR IAN FLEMING

Born in London in 1908, Ian Fleming was commissioned as a Lieutenant Commander RNVR in the Naval Intelligence Division at the outbreak of World War Two, when he was aged 31. It was his time in the Services which was to provide the inspiration for his world-famous James Bond novels, on which the hugely successful Bond film franchise is based.

The first Bond novel 'Casino Royale' was published in 1953 but Fleming would live to see only two of his books made into films: 'Dr No' and 'From Russia With Love'.
