The United Nations Postal Administration is to issue four 'sport for peace' stamps, to mark the opening of the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. The souvenir sheets will also be released on the day of issue, which is 17 August 2012.

The Paralympic Games opens on 29 August and this year, will feature twenty sports, with over 4,000 athletes competing from 160 different countries. The stamps feature silhouettes of athletes competing in volleyball, basketball, table tennis and archery. Athletes competing at the Games are divided into the following disability groups: visual impairments, amputees, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries and Les Autres - athletes with physical disabilities that are not included in the categories mentioned above.
