Austria Post has issued a stamp to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the Vienna City Marathon. The 62c stamp shows a crowd of runners crossing a bridge over the River Danube, with the city of Vienna in the background.

The first Vienna City Marathon was held on 25 March 1984, with 794 competitors. Nowadays, the race is Austria's largest road running event, attracting over 32,000 runners from more than 100 countries. The 42.195km race begins at the Vienna International Centre and takes in the Danube Channel, the Ringstrabe and the Schonbrunn Palace, before finishing at Heldenplatz.

As well as the main (full) marathon, there is also a half marathon, a team relay event and a 4.2km fun run. The 2013 race, which took place on 14 April was won by Kenyan runner Henry Sugut (also the 2012 winner) who finished in a time of 2 hours, 8 minutes and nine seconds.
