Seasonal stamps are here and we bring you a selection of Christmas stamps in this new stamps round-up.
The USA has issued a wide range of festive stamps, including a circular stamp for international mail featuring a poinsettia, a set of four stamps showing cute otters frolicking in the snow, and another set of four depicting ‘A Visit from St Nick’. www.usps.com
Canada Post have also featured the main man on their stamps. The ‘Holiday Characters’ stamps show adorable portraits of Santa (domestic rate), a reindeer (U.S. rate) and an elf (international). A single Christmas stamp, meanwhile, uses simple line drawings to depict angels. www.canadapost.ca
Sweden’s seasonal offerings are suitably colourful, with one design featuring a great tit and blue tit amongst decorated branches of a tree, a gingerbread heart in the top corner (www.postnord.se). Estonia also opt for wildlife in wintry conditions, with a pair of stamps showing a squirrel and a bullfinch, respectively (www.omniva.ee).
France’s seasonal stamp recreates a light installation in the Romanesque church of Sainte-Foy in Sélestat, near the German border. Multi-coloured balls reflect the stained-glass windows, recreating the shape of a Christmas tree. www.laposte.fr
