Croatia have issued a single stamp to celebrate the feats of footballer Luka Modric, who was named the best player of the 2018 World Cup.

Hrvatska Posta (the Croatian Post Office) have issued a stamp showing a photograph of midfielder Luka Modric in action, available in a nine-stamp sheetlet with one label and a First Day Cover.

Modric, who will be familiar to British football fans due to his time playing for Tottenham Hotspur, enjoyed a successful 2017-18 season, winning the Champions League with his club Real Madrid and taking his country Croatia to the World Cup final (after beating England in the semi-final), where they were finally defeated by France.

Modric was voted the best player of the World Cup finals, held in Russia, and later was voted Best FIFA Men's Player of 2018 Award at the inaugural Best Fifa Football Awards 2018.
