The unique tail-less Manx cats of the Isle of Man are portrayed on a new stamp sheet by renowned cat illustrator Lesley Anne Ivory.
The unique tail-less Manx cats of the Isle of Man are portrayed on a new stamp sheet by renowned cat illustrator Lesley Anne Ivory.
The four stamps feature Manx cats set against a background of patchwork quilts, which are illustrated with flora and fauna found on the Isle of Man. The 47p stamps shows a Manx Tabby against a background of Mugwort, next (£1.30) are ginger and white Manx Cats and a fuschia quilt. The £1.57 value has a Manx Cat and kittens with Mugwort and Daisy, and finally the £3.68 stamp has a Manx Cat with Harebells and rabbits.
The set also includes a presentation pack and first day cover.
Cat illustrator Lesley Anne Ivory
Lesley Anne Ivory was born in Luton in 1934 and learnt her trade at St Albans School of Art. Over the decades, she has become world famous for her feline art, which has seen her detailed illustrations featuring cats in backgrounds ranging from Ancient Egypt to English country gardens.
Lesley has created more than 700 drawings in her Ivory Cats portfolio and her work is regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy
