A stamp from Kosovo which marked the canonisation of Mother Teresa has been given the St Gabriel Award for best religious stamp of 2017.
The St Gabriel Award for religious stamps has been running annually since 1969 and this year's ceremony was held on 1 October, with a judging panel which included the Archbishop of Vienna, the bishop emeritus of Trento and Cardinal Christoph Shonborn.
Vatican City and Belgium were also given recognition awards for their 2017 entries, on the subjects of mercy and tolerance respectively.
Kosov's award-winning stamp was designed by Dijana Toskas and Hilmijeta Apuk and has a photograph of Mother Teresa, who was canonised on 4 September 2011 and is now recognised as a saint by the Roman Catholic church. The design also includes a dove to symbolise peace and the text from Mother Teresa's poem Farewell.
