The “Office des Timbres” of the Principality of Monaco will put the following stamps on sale on 6th September 2022:
1,65€ - 120 YEARS OF THE MUSEUM OF PREHISTORIC ANTHROPOLOGY OF MONACO
Following the Grimaldi cave digs (1895-1902) which he ordered and funded, Prince Albert I founded in the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology in 1902, on the site of the former Government building, to preserve and display all of the finds unearthed in a single location. In 1959, the Museum moved to a new building in the Exotic Garden. The collections displayed tell the story of the major milestones in the evolution of humanity, through the glacial and interglacial periods. Attached to the Government and supported by an international scientific panel, the Museum’s team conducts archaeological digs and laboratory research, and publishes scientific articles, in addition to organising exhibitions and mediation activities.

2,86€ - ALbert I AND MADEIRA – DESCENTS IN “CARROS DE CESTO”
Prince Albert I maintained a very close relationship with Madeira, undertaking no fewer than six scientific campaigns on the island. The stamp depicts the famous descents in “Carros de Cesto” (wicker sleds), in which Prince Albert I took part on several occasions.

These issues will be on sale at the “Office des Timbres”, the “Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies”, the post offices and philatelic counters of the Principality, the Monaco stamp-dealers as well as the “Carré d’Encre” in Paris, France. They will be included, with other values, in the 2nd Part of the philatelic programme 2022 and offered to our subscribers and customers.
