Graigellachie Bridge
From humble stone crossings that facilitated early trade, to metal structures that pushed the boundaries of construction engineering, Britain’s bridges are celebrated in a set of ten stamps from Royal Mail
Throughout history, bridges have been vital in terms of making connections between communities and facilitating trade. The ten stamps featured in ‘Bridges’ span more than five centuries of bridge building, focusing on stone, steel and iron structures around the UK.
The ten bridges featured on the stamps represent some of the country’s most celebrated bridges, each of which was pioneering for its time. Seven of the images on the ten photos are original commissioned photographs by architectural photography agency Hufton & Crow.
