Winnie the Pooh First Day Covers

Over the years, Winnie the Pooh has made an appearance on a number of First Day Covers. 1979 was the Year of the Child and Benham produced a cover in association with Methuen Books which featured an EH Shepard painting of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin. The cover was signed by Christopher Robin Milne, son of AA Milne, who inspired the character Christopher Robin and had a postmark featuring Christopher Robin reading a book.

Royal Mail’s First Day Cover, to accompany the 2010 Winnie the Pooh stamps, shows Pooh and Piglet walking hand in hand through the wind. The cover also includes a filler card giving potted biographies of Winnie the Pooh illustrator E H Shepard and author AA Milne.

Buckingham Covers have issued a cover which shows cover producer Tony Buckingham reading a Winnie the Pooh book to his granddaughter, whilst British First Day Covers have released a cover showing a teddy going fishing.
