The 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, one of the key turning points of the Second World War, is commemorated with six stamps featuring imagery related to the aerial battle.

The Battle of Britain, which took place between July and October 1942, was Britain's defence against 'Operation Sea Lion', Hitler's plan to launch an invasion of the British Isles. During the battle, 2936 pilots, named by Sir Winston Churchill as 'the few', took to the skies of southern England to protect Britain's air supremacy. 544 of these pilots lost their lives in the Battle of Britain and they are remembered by a memorial on the cliffs at Folkestone.
