The latest in the Italian Post Office's 'Made in Italy' stamp series features the 400-year-old Officina Profumo pharmacies. The 0.75 Euro stamp shows the elaborate interior of an Officina Profumo pharmacy, the Pharmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella in Florence, which is one of the oldest working pharmacies in the world.
The first Officina Profumo pharmacy was opened during the medieval era by Dominican friars, who used early apothecary knowledge to cure the friars of their Order, as well as sick people who came to the monastery to be cured.
