Royal Mail are set to issue a limited edition overprinted version of the ‘Stamp Classics’ miniature sheet at Stampex in February.
Limited to just 6,000 copies the miniature sheet will feature an exclusive overprint of the Stampex International logo, and the dates of the exhibition. Each sheet will be individually numbered, from 0001 to 6000.
The sheet could become a modern rarity, though it is not certain that the item will go up in value.
Royal Mail last produced a limited edition miniature sheet at Stampex in February 2016, offering individually numbered versions of the 'Classic GPO Posters' sheet in a special presentation sleeve.
The GPO Posters sheet was sold at the show for £7.95, and examples have recently sold on eBay for up to £18 by GB stamp dealers Rushstamps (Retail) Ltd.
A similar overprint was created for the 'Europhilex London 2015' event, with 7,500 special copies of the Penny Black mini sheet featuring the name, dates and venue of the event, along with the numbering.
Rushstamps now sell this limited edition for £10.95.
Stampex International is the UK's national stamp exhibition and will take place between 13 and 16 February 2019.
