New Luxembourg stamp for the centenary of Jean-Pierre Kemmer

The renowned musician was born in Lëtzebuerg in 1923

As a multi-talented and highly versatile musician, Kemmer already attended the Conservatoire at the age of 7, and by the age of 13 he helped out as an accompanist on the radio.

In 1945, he was hired by Radio Luxembourg as an accompanist pianist.

Jean-Pierre Kemmer was also known as an excellent conductor of many choirs. In 1969, he set up his own choir called Choeurs Jean-Pierre Kemmer, which performed at over 600 concerts in Luxembourg and abroad for 21 years.
