Thousands of people visit Vianden's nut market every year, to purchase walnuts and sample the sights and sounds of the beautiful city. The market is celebrated on a single stamp from Luxembourg as part of the 2023 SEPAC theme of 'Traditional Markets'.

This year, the theme of the joint edition of postal operators from “small” European states and autonomous regions is 'Traditional market'.

POST Philately chose the Vianden Nut Market as its motif. This event, now known and appreciated well beyond the city limits, has existed since 1935 and attracts thousands of visitors.

The official website of Vianden explains:

'The first nut market in Vianden took place in 1935 and was initially intended only for the sale of extraordinary quantities of nuts. Over the years, the market has grown into a renowned and irreplaceable folk festival.'
