Royal Mail Stamps Guide 2017 - Landmark Buildings, 13 July 2017

Take a tour through Britain’s modern-day architecture with Landmark Buildings, Royal Mail’s ten-stamp issue which covers notable buildings ranging from national parliaments to visitor centres and galleries.

These colourful new stamps feature landmark architecture on buildings which are part of everyday life in Britain, whether through theatre, politics, heritage or horticulture.

Royal Mail has taken inspiration from across the UK, with the ten stamps featuring buildings in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, which were created between 1997 and 2016. Each of the ten public buildings was carefully designed either to blend into its surroundings (as in the case of the Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre) or to make an impact (buildings such as the eye-catching Library of Birmingham).

Proving that modern-day architects can take inspiration from the past and still produce cutting-edge building design, three of the ten buildings (Everyman Theatre, SEC Armadillo and IWM North) were either inspired by historic buildings or events, or created using reclaimed materials from older structures.
