Austria Post have become the latest philatelic bureau to sign up as a ‘Post Office Partner’ on the website, meaning their new stamp issues will be covered in detail on both the site and the regular 'New Stamps' email update.

The ‘New Stamps’ section of the popular stamp collecting website features a growing number of post offices, from countries including:

  • Faroe Islands
  • Guernsey
  • Jersey
  • Luxembourg
  • Monaco

Each post office has their own dedicated section of the site, with new issues covered in detail along with links to purchase the designs. Now the latest stamps from Austria are set to be featured on the website, whilst the quarterly ‘New Stamps’ email update will also include news of Austrian stamps.

Austria's fascinating stamps

Over the years Austria have issued a number of intriguing and novel stamps.

Recent issues, reflecting the challenges of the pandemic, have included a miniature sheet in the form of a plaster, to promote vaccinations, and a stamp printed on toilet paper, a comment on the panic-buying and shortages at the start of the lockdown.

Earlier issues include a porcelain stamp, a lederhosen stamp made of leather, and an embroidered stamp made from cotton and in the shape of traditional Austrian costume.

Of course, Austria also issue many more orthodox stamps reflecting the country’s rich history, heritage, and culture.

‘Our stamps are so much more than just postage,’ a spokesperson said, ‘they are artistic representations of different occasions and subjects. As such, they take our message to the rest of the world.’
