The Faroe Islands post office commemorates the 2015 total solar eclipse on the islands with two stamps.

The total solar eclipse of 20 March 2015 has been commemorated by two Faroe Islands stamps which show the eclipse as seen from over the island of Nolsoy, viewed from Torshavan.

The islands were one of the best locations in the world to experience the eclipse, as they were within the 'shadow zone' of the eclipse, allowing anyone watching to see the eclipse at its most dramatic. This was a rare event - the last total eclipse visible from the Faroes was in 1954, with the next scheduled for 2245.

The eclipse stamps are the latest in the Faroe Islands Post Office's stamp schedule for 2015, with further releases due on the Faroese flag (24 April), religion in the Viking age (28 September) and SEPAC 2015: knitting (28 September).

To purchase the stamps, visit the Faroe Islands Post Office website.
