A new joint issue from India and Israel celebrates twenty years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. ...

The postal authorities of India and Israel have issued the celebratory stamps to mark the twentieth anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The stamps were officially unveiled at a special ceremony in Tel Aviv which was organised by the Embassy of India in Israel.

The stamps are in two designs, one for each country. The India issue has fireworks and oil lamps, and carries the wording Festival of Lights - Deepavali, whilst the Israel stamp has the Star of David national symbol and burning candles, along with the wording Festival of Lights - Hanukkah.

Unveiling the stamps were Manjula Prasher, Secretary and Director General of India Post, H.E. Jaideep Sarkar, Ambassador-Designate of India to Israel, Sasi Shilo, Chairman, Israel Postal Company and Haim Elmoznino, President and CEO, Israel Postal Company and Yaron Razon Director, Israel Philatelic Service.
