Knockmore Post Office in Northern Ireland served the final customer in its 163 years of history despite a long-running campaign by local residents to keep it open. Postmaster Billy Rodgers, whose grandmother Annie Reape was Knockmore's first Postmistress in 1849, closed the doors of the post office for the final time after manning the counter with his wife and daughter. An Post has claimed that the office is no longer viable.
