Nigel Mansell, the only racing driver to have held the Formula One and IndyCar World Championships titles simultaneously, has helped to design a new set of stamps issued by Jersey Post. The six stamps, issued on 15 October 2013, mark the twentieth anniversary of Nigel Mansell CBE achieving his F1/IndyCar double.

Events featured in the issue are:
  • Mansell’s first pole position with Lotus in 1984 (45p value)
  • First Formula One Win with Williams Honda in 1985 (55p)
  • Winning debut drive for Ferrari in 1989 (60p)
  • Winning the F1 World title with Williams Renault in 1992 (68p)
  • The successful switch to IndyCar Racing in the US with Newman/Haas Lola Ford in 1993 (80p)
  • A memorable moment with Ayrton Senna at the 1991 British Grand Prix chosen by Mansell himself (88p)

The six stamps and souvenir sheetlet, titled 'Legacy of a Formula One Champion', feature key moments in Mansell's career. In recognition of his links with the island of Jersey, a percentage of the first year's philatelic sales of the stamps will 'help secure the future of St Brelade’s Youth Club, a local initiative supported by Nigel Mansell'. The Club holds events including 5 a side football, pool, cooking and table tennis.

Ben Hickingbotham, creative director at The Observatory - the studio that designed the stamps - said: 'In order to echo Mansell’s heyday, the design rationale is an evolution of ‘80s and ‘90s Formula 1 design. They are reminiscent of the F1 posters of the time, feature a clean contemporary look and incorporate typography printed in a metallic silver effect.'
