Royal Mail reveal 2014 schedule

Royal Mail have revealed their stamp schedule for next year, with children’s television, Great British films, World War One and the Commonwealth Games among the subjects being commemorated.

The 2014 schedule, which was revealed at the recent Stampex event, boasts an ecelectic range of subjects covering everything from sustainable fishing to Buckingham Palace.

The 100th anniversary of the start of World War One is set to be one of the major issues of the year, with many other philatelic bureaux also planning to mark the centenary, and the holding of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will also be a popular issue, though ‘gold medal winners’ stamps will not be issued for each British winner as they were for the London 2012 Olympics Games.

The ‘Remarkable Lives’ issue is likely to follow the format of the previous ‘Eminent’ and ‘Great Britons’, and the ‘Piers, Proms and Pavillions’ set will celebrate Britain’s seaside architecture.
