The United States Postal Service has issued a new stamp to mark this year's Special Olympics World Games, to be held in Los Angeles from 25 July to 2 August 2015.

The Special Olympics is the world's largest sporting organisation for people with intellectual disabilities. Its World Games, established in 1968, are held every two years, and this year will be staged in Los Angeles, in front of an estimated half a million spectators. More than 7,000 athletes from 177 different countries are expected to compete in 25 World Games sports. Athletes are grouped according to age and ability,

The stamp, designed by Greg Breeding, features the Los Angeles 2015 Special Olympic World Games logo, which showcases the flag colours of the nations taking part, as well as a central figure which represents 'courage, determination and joy'. The words 'Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015' and “Forever/USA' also appear, presented against an orange background.
