Luxembourg celebrates the centenary of the Tour de France cycle race with a stamp depicting four of Luxembourg's past champions.

The Tour de France is the world's best known cycle race and has been held 100 times since 1903. Although the race is staged on an annual basis, the Tour de France was not raced during wartime - between 1915 and 1918, and from 1940 to 1946, making the 2013 race the 100th.

Luxembourg has four former Tour de France winners: Francois Faber, Nicolas Frantz, Charly Gaul and Andy Schleck each of whom is shown on the new stamp, designed by Belgian graphic designer Jean-Philippe Janus. The stamp has the names of each of the winners, along with an image of the Pyrenees mountains - one of the most difficult stages of the race - and the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, symbols of Paris, the end point of the Tour de France.
