Hungary Post has issued a stamp commemorating the work of the first doctor to reach survivors of RMS Titanic, which features an unusual 'sparkling' effect. ...
Hungary Post's RMS Titanic issue is a stamp block which commemorates the centenary of the sinking of RMS Titanic, as well as the work of Dr Arpad Lengyel, doctor on board RMS Carpathia which was the first ship to reach survivors of Titanic.
The stamp block shows Titanic heading towards the iceberg, with a portrait of Dr Lengyel and the Carpathia in the top right hand corner. Iridescent spot-varnish screenprinting (usually employed in security printing) has been used across the stamp block, in order to give the impression of icy sparkles.
