Jersey’s festive stamps for this year show the big man himself in a number of different outfits and colours, including yellow, green and blue.
According to Jersey Post, Santa’s appearance isn’t quite as straightforward as just red and white.
‘Some historians argue that Saint Nicholas originally dressed in different colours,’ Jersey’s stamp experts say.
‘In the United Kingdom, he was often depicted wearing a green bishop cloak, and past illustrations from around the world depict him in purple, light-blue, navy blue, yellow, white and even brown.’

But Santa’s traditional red and white, said to be adopted in Victorian times and not thanks to Coca-Cola advertisements as many believe, is also seen on three of the stamps.
