Iceland Post has issued details of its 2011 Christmas issue (97ISK and 165ISK), designed by Guðbjörg Ringsted, which feature goldwork embroidery, one of the techniques used in making Iceland's national costumes, using silver and gold threads. Reference is also made to skattering, an old Icelandic method of embroidering, often used for colourful flower patterns.
