Luxembourg's seasonal stamps show what at first glance appears to be a simple graphic representation of winter, but closer inspection, however, we can see that the two snowflakes exhibit amazing symmetrical properties.
At first glance, it is a graphic representation of winter that seems to adorn this year's special stamps. On closer inspection, however, we can see that the two snowflakes exhibit amazing symmetrical properties.
Hypersymmetrics, or "multidimensional symmetry", is a form of pictorial representation developed by artist Jens W. Beyrich. Some 10 16 arrangements are possible with the 12 stars which form the basic shape of the snowflakes.
If each were represented on a coaster, we could cover the surface of the Earth.
