Monaco pay homage to Enzo Ferrari, the founder of the famous Italian motorsport company, with a single stamp.

Born in Modena in 1898, Enzo Ferrari discovered an interest in motorsport while attending the Coppa Florio at the age of 10.

He took part in his first race in 1919 and joined the Alfa Romeo team in 1920. A talented driver, he founded the Scuderia Ferrari in 1929 with two other associates.

This subsidiary of Alfa Romeo competes on the motor circuits with models supplied by the Italian manufacturer. From 1931, the symbol of the prancing horse, a lucky charm offered by the Countess Paolina Baracca, forms the emblem of the brand.

In 1947, the first Ferrari automobile, the 125 S, made its racing debut. Two years later, the team won its first world championship title, the first in a long series. At the end of the 1960s, the company, which was experiencing some financial difficulties, was bought by Fiat. However, Enzo Ferrari would keep an eye on his business until his death in August 1988.
