South Georgia explorer stamps

South Georgia has issued a set of eight stamps which celebrate the expeditions of adventurers Robert Falcon Scott, Ernest Shackleton, Douglas Mawson and Frank Wild. The stamps feature portraits of the explorers and images from the Discovery, Aurora, Endurance and Nimrod expeditions.
 
The issue coincides with the recent interment of the ashes of Frank Wild next to the grave of Sir Ernest Shackleton at Grytviken in South Georgia. Members of Frank’s family attended an interment ceremony along with the granddaughter of Ernest Shackleton, and Angie Butler, who found Frank’s ashes in Johannesburg.
