The new block celebrates a Luxembourg noble who became internationally renowned

Jean-Gaspard de Cicignon was born in Luxembourg in 1622 in Oberwampach. He became an officer in the Danish military and went on to be Commander of the Bergenhus fortress in Norway. When the Norwegian city of Trondheim almost burned to the ground in 1681, Jean-Gaspard de Cicignon was the fortifications architect who drew up the plans to improve its fire safety.

The face value of the block, which features drawings by artist Martin Mörck, is €2.
